Back home, if something is “fine”, it’s okay or permissible.
In Aberdeen however, the word often gets more emphasis,
meaning “really nice”.
“Mm that’s fine!”
(“Mm that’s really nice!”)
Added to that, is the phrase “fine piece”,
which can refer to an indulgent sweet treat such as a cake.
“I fancy a fine piece.”
(“I fancy a really nice cake.”)
Now that’s a really FINE piece!
Next Wednesday: It’s a woolly bear!
